Acne Scar Treatment

A scar-by-scar strategy rather than one standard package.

Acne scar treatment at Mira Clinic begins by identifying the scar pattern. Ice-pick, boxcar, rolling and tethered scars behave differently, and pigmentation or redness may coexist with true textural scarring.

Why One Treatment Rarely Fixes Every Scar

Different procedures target different components: surface texture, collagen remodelling, fibrous tethering, focal deep scars or underlying volume. A patient with mixed scars may therefore need a staged combination approach.

Our Assessment

We assess active acne, scar type and depth, tethering, pigmentation, skin type, healing history, previous procedures and the risk of post-inflammatory pigment change.

Treatments May Include

Depending on the scar pattern, a plan may include RF microneedling / EXION, selected PB Serum protocols, injectable or structural correction, and other appropriate scar-directed methods. Not every patient requires every modality.

Active Acne and Skin Preparation

Ongoing inflammatory acne should be addressed because new scars can continue to form. Skincare and pigment-risk management may also be important before or alongside procedural treatment.

What Results Are Realistic?

The aim is improvement in scar depth, shadowing and overall texture rather than complete erasure. Long-standing or deep scars commonly require multiple sessions and patience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which treatment is best for acne scars?

The answer depends on the scar type. A device may be useful for one component while another scar needs a different technique.

Can I do one aggressive session instead of several?

More aggressive treatment is not automatically better and may increase downtime or complication risk. Intensity should be balanced against skin type, scar pattern and healing.

Will scars come back?

A successfully remodelled scar does not simply 'grow back', but ongoing acne can create new scars and skin continues to change over time.
